Dear Members and Friends of the Buckeye Brook Coalition,

News!  We are excited to report that on June 9 the RI Rivers Council approved Buckeye Brook Coalition’s application to become an official watershed council.   And our new status was recognized at the River Council’s awards ceremony with the governor on June 16.

June is Rivers Month!  Please save the dates for these two upcoming events:

  1. Sunday, June 27th at 2:00 p.m.  Historic tour of Buckeye Brook and its surroundings!  Meet at the Knights of Columbus parking lot at the corner of Warwick Ave. and Sandy Lane.  For more information call 785-1596 or 864-6112.

  1. Wednesday, June 30 at 7:00.  Members and Friends Meeting.  Meet at the Warwick Public Library on Sandy Lane in room 100, next to the coffee shop.  Agenda includes a business meeting to elect officers and adopt bylaws, a presentation by the RI Rivers Council, and a talk by Phil Edwards of DEM on Buckeye Brook and the fish run.  This is an important meeting, so please try to attend and become (a little bit!) involved.  See you there!

The attachment is a copy of the proposed bylaws with suggested modifications included in the text.  Note that the bylaws  include a name change from “Buckeye Brook Coalition” to “Buckeye Brook Watershed Council,” which assumes a “yes” vote on that issue prior to considering the bylaws.

June is a busy month, but please take a few moments to learn about and support the brook!
